Mr. Charles David Oaks, 67, 1112 High Street, Johnson City, passed away Monday, January 24, 2011 in the Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Mr. Oaks was a lifelong resident of Johnson City. He was the son of the late Ed Oaks and Pearl Hurt Oaks. In addition to his parents two brothers, Raymond Oaks and Raynear Oaks and three sisters, Edith Trivette, Esther Trivette, and Alice Collins also preceded him in death. Survivors include: one brother, James N. Oaks and his wife Linda of Johnson City; several nieces and nephews. The family would like to express a special thank you to Johnny and Judy Oaks for their special care and help also a special thank you to the Johnson City Fire Department station #4; Lt. Lynn Peters and Assistant Fire Marshall Lori Ratliff. The funeral service for Mr. Charles David Oaks will be conducted at 8 PM Saturday, January 29, 2011 in the Morris-Baker South Chapel. Pastor Roy Reed and Pastor Larry Campbell will officiate. The graveside committal service will be conducted at 1 PM Sunday, in the Monte Vista Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Johnny Oaks, Justin Johnson, David Nelson, Mike Burleson, Quentin Hilton, Hack Arnett, Joe Trivett and Rick Campbell. Ministers, family and friends are requested to meet at the funeral home by 12:30 PM Sunday to go in procession. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Saturday prior to the service and other times at the residence of the brother, James N. Oaks, 1210 N. Barton Street, Johnson City.
