Charles H. Mckinney

Charles H. McKinney, 78, 810 Liberty Bell Blvd., Johnson City died Saturday, April 19, 2008 in the James H. Quillen Veteran Medical Center at Mountain Home. Mr. McKinney was a native of Avery County, North Carolina who had lived most of his life in Johnson City. He was the son of the late Ira and Novella Johnson McKinney. In addition to his parents two brothers, Lee and Allen McKinney, also preceded him in death. He was a retired employee of North American Rayon Corporation with forty-four years of service. He was a U.S Army veteran. Mr. McKinney was a member of the Harrison Christian Church. He was an avid golfer, coached Little League Baseball, enjoyed fishing and gardening, and loved telling stories and jokes. Survivors include: his loving wife, Norma Lee McKinney of the home; four sons, Mike and wife Shirley McKinney of Gray, Rick and wife Susanne McKinney of Johnson City, Gary McKinney and his fiancee Laurel Harris of Kingsport, and Bill and wife Sissy McKinney of Johnson City; two brothers, Ronald McKinney and wife Dot of Anniston, Alabama and Richard McKinney and wife Lucille of Jonesborough; a sister-in-law Louise McKinney of Johnson City; nine grandchildren, Dusty McKinney of Johnson City, Josh Goulds of Gray, Luke McKinney of Johnson City, Darren McKinney of Johnson City, Travis McKinney of Knoxville, Desiree and Gabriel McKinney, both of Kingsport, Benjamin and Amy McKinney both of Johnson City; three great grandchildren, Ryland McKinney of Johnson City, Kaitlyn and Connor Goulds both of Gray.
