Charles Maynard Barry

Mr. Charles 'Maynard'? Barry, 80, of Gray, died Wednesday, May 2, 2012, at Life Care Center of Gray. A native of Washington County, he was the son of the late Roy Fuller and Ruby Laura Range Barry. Maynard was a member of Hales Chapel and a great handyman. He enjoyed a good game of golf and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He retired from the Jonesborough Post Office in 1986, after 30 years of service. After retirement, he enjoyed a second career as a grounds keeper at Graysburg Hills Golf Course. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two sisters, Viola Copas and Reba Gray. He is survived by his loving wife, Joann Couch Barry, of the home; daughter, Taryn Ward and husband Ward; son Charles Maynard Barry, Jr.; three grandchildren, Blake W. Ward, Jessica Nicole Barry, and Lucas Charles Barry; three sisters, Lorene Gresham, Myrtle Crouch and husband Jim, and Pansy Hyder and husband Daryl; and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the donors choice. The family will receive friends, Friday, May 4, 2012, 4-6pm, at Morris Baker Funeral Home. Services will immediately follow at 6pm, with Rev. Lloyd Jones officiating. Burial will be made Saturday, 11am, at Monte Vista Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be his nephews; Johnny Gray, Richard Gray, James Gresham, Norman Copas, Randal Copas, David Sliger, Larry Sliger, and Gene Hyder, Jr. David Gresham will be playing the music.
