Charlcie Love, 83, formerly of 902 W. Hillcrest Drive, Johnson City passed away on Sunday, March 16, 2008 very quietly and with much dignity at the Lakebridge Health Care Center in Johnson City. She was a lifelong Johnson City resident and a daughter of the late Phil and Flora Downs. She was preceded in death by her husband, Max H. Love and by one brother, Bill Downs. She had attended Science Hill High School and East Tennessee State College. She left college early to work for the FBI and as a result moved to Washington , DC and San Francisco. She and Max returned to Johnson City, Max worked for the Post Office and she as a book keeper and secretary, later she retired from Magnavox to a life few would consider retirement. She volunteered for the juvenile correction system, various church groups, taught ceramics and spent her best years as a volunteer at the Johnson City Medical Center Hospital. She loved volunteer work and always wanted to make sure thatshe was being of 'some use,'? a lesson she taught her children and grandchildren. In their marriage she and Max loved to travel, especially to Florida where they hoped to retire. She loved her grandchildren and gave most of her time to helping raise them and trying to fulfill their every wish. She and Max were lifelong United Methodists until the oil crisis in the 1970s when they started walking to Clark Street Baptist Church where she was an active member until her health prevented her from attending. After that she attended Jonesborough United Methodist Church with her children and grandchildren when possible. She loved dogs and was often heard remarking the older I get, the more I prefer dogs to some people. After much health decli8ne she spent the last year of her life at LakeBridge Health Care Center in Johnson City, the family wishes to thank the staff at Lake Bridge for the excellent care they provided her. Survivors include; two sons, Kenneth L. Love and his wife Barbara of Johnson City and Phil H. Love and his wife Phyllis of Collierville, TN; three Grandchildren, Adam T. Love and his wife, Bobbi of Johnson City, Bradley Love and his wife, Pam of Bessimer, AL and Jamie B. Love of Johnson City; two Great Grandchildren, Wesley and Jason Love. Services will be conducted at 7:30 PM Tuesday from the Jonesborough United Methodist Church. Dr. Bradley Scott will officiate. Burial services will be at 10:00AM Wednesday from the Monte Vista Memorial Park. Family members will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, the familysuggests memorial contributions be made to Mountain States Health Alliance Auxillary, c/o Corperate Director of Volunteer Resources, 400 State of Franklin Road, Johnson City, TN 37604. The family will receive friends at the church from 6:00 until 7:30PM on Tuesday.
