Ms. Charlotte Grindstaff, age 87, of Johnson City, passed away Monday, September 17, 2012, in the NHC Healthcare. Ms. Grindstaff was a native of Greene County. She was the daughter of the late Troy Parris and Zouria Hampton Parris. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Jerry Grindstaff; two sisters, Lucy Hankins and Gladys DeGarmo; one brother, Hubert Parris. Ms. Grindstaff was previously employed as a waitress for Piccadilly Cafeteria. She was a member of Answer Baptist Church. Survivors include one brother, Glenn Parris and his wife Lorraine; three nieces, Teresa Parris Whaley, Kay Hankins Haynes and Phyllis Lockman; nephew, Billy Jack Parris; great niece, Natalie Whaley; Susan Tesneary who she loved as a granddaughter. The family would like to express a special thank you to the nurses and staff at NHC Healthcare for the special care given to Ms. Grindstaff. The graveside committal service for Ms. Charlotte Grindstaff will be conducted at 11 AM Friday, September 21, 2012 in the Monte Vista Memorial Park. Rev. Harold McNabb will officiate. Minister, family and friends are requested to meet at the cemetery by 10:50 AM Friday. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 PM Thursday, September 20, 2012 at Morris-Baker. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Answer Baptist Church, 205 Harrison Street, Johnson City, Tn. 37604.
