Charlotte Phillips

August 9, 1926 — January 23, 2012

Charlotte Blankenship Phillips, 85, passed away Monday, January 23, 2012 surrounded by her loving family after a brief illness. Charlotte was a true Southern Lady, who welcomed everyone into her home. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She loved to read and was an outstanding cook. She was a devoted Christian and faithful member of Fairhaven United Methodist Church. Charlotte was raised in the Newdale (Burnsville) area of Western North Carolina where she graduated from Micaville High School and also played basketball. Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents, O. P. and Mary Young Blankenship, husband Ted Phillips and granddaughter Angela Denise Phillips. She is survived by her daughter Janice White and husband Dennis, Elizabethton; her two sons Mayor Dennis Phillips and wife Bobbie, Kingsport and Richard Phillips and fiancé Brenda Compton, Kingsport; grandchildren Brad Hacker, Johnson City, Steven Hacker and wife Traci, Moscow, Idaho, Tracy Ramsey and husband Brian, Kingsport, Pam Ratliff and husband Kyle, Kingsport and James Phillips of Kingsport; twelve great-grandchildren, special friends Don and Peggy Pruitt and special four legged companion Ginger. Many thanks to: special caregiver Debbie Dugger. The family will receive friends January 26, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Morris '? Baker Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow in the North Chapel under the direction of Rev. TaeHun Yoon. A committal service will be held on Friday, January 27, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the Newdale Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Newdale, North Carolina. Active Pallbearers will be: James Phillips, Brad Hacker, Steven Hacker, Bryan Ramsey, Derek Ramsey, Daniel Ramsey and Kyle Ratliff. Honorary pallbearers will be: The Weatherman Family. Charlotte loved to be surrounded by flowers. For those who prefer, donations may be made to the Fairhaven United Methodist Church Womens Group, 3131 W. Walnut St., Johnson City, TN 37604.
