Mrs. Christine Bernice Oglesby, 87, 705 Clamar Street, Johnson City passed away Wednesday July 7, 2010 in the Christian Care Center, Johnson City. Mrs. Oglesby was a native of Elizabethton and had lived most of her life in Johnson City. She was the daughter of the late John L. and Winnie Morley Bowers. In addition to her parents her husband Arnold Oglesby; one brother, Ralph Bowers, Jr.; two sisters, Virginia Bowers and Nelle Lubbs; her best friend, Yvonne Bowers also preceded her in death. Mrs. Oglesby was retired from East Tennessee State University, computer services department. She was a loving wife, mother and mamaw and was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include: one son: Roger Duncan and his wife Terri; one daughter, Debbie Archer; one brother, John L. Bowers, Jr.; four grandchildren, Chris Archer, Angel Duncan Benfield, Tiffany Duncan Johnson and Demi Duncan; three great grandchildren, Hunter, Courtney, Jayden; several nieces and nephews. The funeral service for Mrs. Christine Bernice Oglesby will be conducted at 7 PM Friday July 9, 2010 in the Morris-Baker North Chapel. Rev. Jody Jenkins will officiate. The graveside committal service will be conducted at 10 AM Saturday, under the direction of Rev. David Clark, in the Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be: Jonathan Bowers, Greg Bowers, John L. Bowers III, John Johnson, Chris Archer and Jason Hogan. Honorary pallbearers will be: Sonny Hood, Roger Bowers and Ralph Bowers, Jr. Ministers, family and friends are requested to meet at the funeral home by 9:30 AM Saturday to go in procession. The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7 PM Friday prior to the service. Special thanks to the Christian Care Center and Caris Hospice of Johnson City.
