Clarence Gordon Miller

Clarence ?Gordon' Miller, 67, of Watauga, passed away Thursday, August 20, 2015. Mr. Miller is a Sullivan County native, and son of the late Clarence Samuel and Flona Lee Hardin Miller. Mr. Miller graduated from ETSU with a bachelor?s degree in education. Mr. Miller was a United States Army veteran, having served in Vietnam. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Purple Heart, Army Commendation Medal with V device, Combat Infantryman?s Badge, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with three campaign stars, 1st Class Badge (M-60 M 6), Sharpshooter Badge (M-16). Mr. Miller retired from the United States Postal Service. He was a member of Lynnwood Christian Church for 15 years. Mr. Miller was also a member of Doorkeepers Quartet. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by: one brother, Nathan Miller, and a father-in-law, Robert ?Bob' Carr. Survivors include: his wife of 28 years, Connie Miller; three daughters, Karen Williams, Tonya Clark, and her husband Jimmie, and Rachel Miller; one son, Adam Miller; four grandchildren, Allison Williams, Isiah ?Zeke' Clark, Kalen Clark, and Olivia Clark; three sisters, Margaret Moore, Evelyn Seats, and Wilma Lewis; one brother, Eford Barnett; a mother-in-law, Vivian Carr; special friends, Glen Keller and Bill Whisnant; special pet, Blake; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews. The family of Gordon Miller will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Monday, August 24, 2015 at Morris-Baker Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 8:00 PM with Glen Keller officiating. Pallbearers will be: Bill Whisnant, Alan Miller, Kelvin Thomas, Larry Hankal, Jimmie Clark, Doug Buchanan, Burt Tester, and Dale Caldwell. Honorary Pallbearers include the men of Lynnwood Christian Church. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home by 9:30 AM Tuesday to go in procession to Mountain Home National Cemetery for 10:00 AM graveside services.
