Clarice Cleeta Painter

November 11, 1919 — January 6, 2007

Clarice Cleeta Painter, 87 formerly of 2103 E. Myrtle Avenue, Johnson City, died Saturday, January 6, 2007 at the Lakebridge Health Care Center. She was a native of Unicoi County and lifelong resident of East Tennessee, daughter of the late Jeter and Cora Bennett Howell. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Hodge F. Painter. Mrs. Painter was a homemaker and belonged to the Seventh Day Adventist Church. She also loved to write poetry and songs, which she recited to the Adult Daycare at Keystone. Clarice also attended the Johnson City-Washington County Senior Citizens. She was humerous and loved to attend church with her two sons. Survivors include two sons, Frank Painter, Jr. of Johnson City and Dennis Painter of Elizabethton; four sisters, Mayme Boyd, Eva Babb, Kate Campbell and Georgia Bawgus all of Johnson City; a brother, G. C. Howell of Elgin, SC and a grandson, Brent Painter of Elizabethton; several nieces and nephews. A graveside service is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 9, 2007 in the Monte Vista Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Morris - Baker Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. until time to go in procession to the cemetery. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in the form of contributions to the United Way of Johnson City and Washington County, 926 W. Oakland Avenue, Johnson City, TN 37604.
