Claude Herman Mcinturff

Claude H. McInturff, age 88, of Johnson City, passed away on Thursday, January 20, 2011 in the Appalachian Christian Village. Mr. McInturff was born in Valley Forge, Tennessee, a son of the late Taylor McInturff and Lilly Bell Jenkins McInturff. He was a very loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was a life long resident of East Tennessee. Mr. McInturff attended the University of Arizona and East Tennessee State University. He was a veteran of the United States Navy having served his country during World War II. He served aboard the destroyer USS Aylwin in the pacific theater, Battle of the Coral Sea, Wake Island, Okinawa, Iwo Gima, Midway Island and others. Following World War II Mr. McInturff began his long career in retail. He served as General Manager of Parks Belk in Kingsport, Tennessee until his retirement in 1988. He was a member of First Christian Church Johnson City and was a member of the Mr. and Mrs. Sunday School Class. Mr. McInturff was preceded in death by five brothers, Frank, Carl, Eugene, John and Edward McInturff. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Adelaide Pickle McInturff; two sons, Larry McInturff and wife Joanne, of Kingsport, TN and Steve McInturff and wife Barbara, of Tampa, FL; one daughter, Teresa Isaacs and husband John, of Johnson City; seven grandchildren, Larry Shannon Burnette, Sommer Isaacs Hill and husband Chris, Heather Isaacs, Loren, Britton and Stephen McInturff, and Ashley Nicole McInturff; two great grandchildren, John Ryder Hill and Frank Hudson; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Saturday evening, January 22, 2011 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm in the Morris-Baker Funeral Home North Chapel. Burial will be in the Monte Vista Memorial Park with military honors to be rendered by the Boone Dam VFW Post #4933 and members of the Tennessee Army National Guard. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be sent to your favorite charity of choice.
