Donald Adams was born on May 6, 1928 in Switchback, West Virginia to Grace South Adams and Charlie Gordon Adams. Upon the death of his father in 1938, the family moved to Kingsport and there he resided until 1962 when he moved to Johnson City and remained there until he moved to Maryville in July of 2005. He departed this life on July 18, 2006 at the Blount Memorial Hospital and Heaven is a lovelier place with this dear, compassionate, considerate man there. Mr. Adams joined the U. S. Army at the end of WWII at the age of 17 and served in the Philippines under General McArthur. After leaving the Army, he was employed by the Tennessee Eastman Company in Kingsport for 43 years until his retirement in 1987. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Pauline Adams, his step-daughter Tammy Lynn Malone, his namesake nephew, Clifford Gordon Adams. He is survived by five daughters, Linda Adams Lovelace and her husband Tommy of Kingsport, Deborah Adams Culbertson and her husband Phil of Wichita, Kansas, Donna Adams Hollifield of Florida, Tina Louise Adams of Johnson City, and step-daughter Paula Roberts Wyatt of Wilmington, NC; a brother Leonard Adams and wife Betty of Maryville and niece Melissa Adams of Knoxville; 15 grandchildren, including his namesake grandson, Clifford Nathaniel Culbertson; 30 great grandchildren; and his beloved step-granddaughter Kelsi Jean Malone of Maryville. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, July 23, 2006 at the Morris - Baker Funeral Home in Johnson City. Rev. Jonathan Lovelace,officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. with services in the South Chapel at 3:00 p.m. Burial will follow at the Roselawn Memorial Park, Johnson City.
