Clinton Norris Edwards

Mr. Clinton Norris Edwards, 79, of Jonesborough, went to be with his loving savior on January 29, 2012, at Johnson City Medical Center. Clinton was a native of Mitchell County, North Carolina and had been a resident of Johnson City and Jonesborough since 1950. He was born in Mitchell County, NC on February 9, 1932 and was the son of the late Burnie N. and Sinda Miller Edwards. He was preceded in death by his first wife Bergie Peterson Edwards in October, 2005 and his brothers Wendell Edwards in November, 2006 and Floyd H. Edwards in July, 2011. He is survived by his wife, Joyce Ferren Edwards of the home; two daughters, Crystal and husband Larry Campbell of Piney Flats and Kimberly and husband Bradley Craig of Johnson City; three sons, Alan and wife Becky Edwards of Johnson City, Darrell and wife Michelle Edwards of Hampton and Scotty and wife Kristy Edwards of Bristol, VA; three stepchildren, Tammy Shepard of Sulpher Springs, and Terry and Keith Ferren of Gray; brother-in-law, L.J. Peterson of Erwin; seven grandchildren, John C. Edwards of Staten Island, NY, Beth Arwood of Jonesborough, Katie Harrison, Lacey Edwards, and William Isaac Craig, all of Johnson City, and Sam and Daniel Edwards of Bristol, VA; one great granddaughter Maggie Arwood of Jonesborough; and three great grandsons, Mason Arwood of Jonesborough and Vince and Michael Edwards of Staten Island, NY. Clinton was a loyal member of the First Church of the Brethren in Johnson City for many years. He was past Distinguished President of the Optimist Club of Johnson City and a 32 year employee of ET&WNC Transportation Company and ET&WNC Railroad Company. He also retired from Bristol Tennessee School System after serving 18 years as Director of Business and Finance. His favorite hobbies were studying and researching genealogy, his grandchildren and great grandchildren, gospel singing, participating in his church and spending time with Joyce and his children and their families at their cabin on Satellite Mountain in Yancey County in the mountains of Western North Carolina. The family will receive friends, Tuesday, January 31, 2012, 5:30-7:30, at Morris Baker Funeral Home, South Chapel. Services will be held, 7:30pm, Morris Baker Funeral Home, South Chapel, with Mr. Larry Campbell officiating. Burial will be held, Wednesday, February 1, 2012, 11am, at Monte Vista Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Ernie Elkins, Norman Taylor, Terry McGuire, Lee Gouge, Roger Street, Dr. J. Ronald Edwards, and Sam Holden Edwards.
