Clyde Allen Crussell

Clyde 'Allen'? Crussell, 85, lifelong resident of Piney Flats, died Wednesday, October 31, 2012 at the Appalachian Christian Village Healthcare, Johnson City. He was a native of Piney Flats, son of the late, Edgar H. and Stella Jones Crussell. Allen was a veteran of WWII and had served in Korea while serving in the U. S. Army. He was a graduate of Mary Hughes High School, ETSU and had attended the University of Tennessee. He had taught school but retired from the United States Postal Service as a postal clerk. Allen was a longtime member of the New Bethel Presbyterian Church. In addition to his parents, his wife, Jane Alyn Smalling Crussell and two sisters, Lena Mae Morgan and Lou Ella Overbay, preceded him in death. Survivors include: two brothers and sisters-in-law, Paul E. and Zalia Crussell of Kingsport, Roy R. and Bernell Crussell of Jonesborough; a sister, Martha Ann Crussell of Piney Flats; several nieces and nephews. A funeral service is scheduled for Friday, November 2, 2012 at 8:00 pm in the South Chapel of the Morris '? Baker Funeral Home under the direction of Pastor Eric Spoon. Special music will be provided by his brother Roys, Boatyard Quartet. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until time of service at 8:00 pm. A committal service will be conducted on Saturday, November 3, 2012 at 11:00 am. Active pallbearers will be: the Men of the New Bethel Presbyterian Church. Those attending will be asked to assemble at the church. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to the: New Bethel Presbyterian Church, 592 New Bethel Rd., Piney Flats, TN 37686.
