Connie Wood

Connie Wood (Ruth Constance Seaver) passed away peacefully at Rex Healthcare, Raleigh, NC on March 27, 2012. Connie was born in Johnson City, Tennessee on September 29, 1921 to Guy O. Seaver and Ruth McCorkle Seaver. In June 1940, she graduated from Science Hill High School and also married Robert O. Wood, Jr (Bob). Connie and Bob purchased their home on the hill on Knob Creek Road in 1942 and Connie lived there until she moved to the Holiday Lodge Independent Senior Community in Wake Forest, North Carolina in 2009. While in Johnson City, Connie was active in the First United Methodist Church serving as president of the Susanna Wesley Sunday School Class and chairman of various Circles. She was PTA President at Henry Johnson Elementary School, President of the Opti-Mrs. Club and President of the Asbury Center Auxiliary. Connie will be remembered for her bubbly personality, zest for life and ability to make people laugh. Funeral Services: 3:00pm, Saturday, March 31, 2012 at Morris-Baker Funeral Home, 2001 Oakland Avenue, Johnson City, Tennessee 37601. The family will receive relatives and friends from 1:30 to 3:00 pm, Saturday, March 31, 2012 prior to the service at Morris-Baker Funeral Home. Burial Monte Vista Burial Park, 1900 Oakland Avenue, Johnson City, Tennessee. Connie was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 55 years, Bob Wood. She will be greatly missed by her three children and their spouses, Ronnie Wood (Fran) of San Antonio, TX; Rob Wood (Kassie) of Annapolis, MD; and Becky Wood McConkey (Gary) of Knightdale, NC as well as her grandchildren April Wood of Baltimore, MD; Jenny Wood of Austin, TX; Brent McConkey (Amy) of Raleigh, NC; Katie Sevon (Matt) of Easton, MD; and Kelly McConkey of Raleigh, NC. Connie was thrilled in September to welcome her first great grandson, Sean Robert McConkey. She is also survived by her sister, Shirley Seaver Buher and four sisters-in-law, JoAnn Malloch, Betty Jo McAmis, Mary Lou Lewis and Carolyn Wood and one brother-in-law, Bill Wood, as well as many nephews and nieces.
