Cornelius “Corney” Cox Marshall, 85, passed away on Wednesday, November 13th at the Johnson City Medical Center.
Corney was a native of Johnson City. He was the son of the late Ernest D. and Ida Cox Marshall. In 1955, he married Alice Mays Marshall. He graduated from East Tennessee State University in 1956 and then served 2 years in the U.S. Army.
Corney was the founder and president of Mountcastle Corporation, a real estate development firm. He also served on numerous Civic and Business Boards throughout the years.
He is survived by his wife, Alice; son, John Marshall (Tamara); daughter Courtney Marshall Pectol (David); four grandchildren, Matt Marshall, Jacob Marshall, Alice Pectol Drake (Chandler) and Sam Pectol. He is also survived by his sister Molly Marshall Hughes (Herbert) and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM on Saturday, November 16, 2019 at Munsey Memorial United Methodist Church. A Celebration of Life service will follow at 3:00 p.m. in the sanctuary, with the Reverend Michael Lester officiating. Corney will be laid to rest at Monte Vista Memorial Park in a private family ceremony at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Munsey Memorial United Methodist Church or the Salvation Army.
