Cynthia "Cindy" Ellen Amburgey age 57 of Johnson City, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2025, at Johnson City Medical Center after a brief illness. She was born on November 3, 1967, in LaFollette, TN.
She graduated from East Tennessee State University in 1991, worked several years for the university, then spent more than 16 years working as a Preschool Teacher at First Presbyterian Church in Johnson City. Cindy married Jeff Amburgey on September 5, 1992, and had one daughter, Kailee Caroline Amburgey. She was a dedicated wife, mother, daughter, teacher, and caregiver. Cindy adored her family, loved her cats Cubbee & Jan, loved the beach, and RV camping.
She was preceded in death by her father, Everette C. Lowe, nephew, Carl Matthew Schmidt, and aunt, Sheila Jeffers.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband of more than 32 years, Jeff Amburgey, daughter, Kailee Amburgey, mother, Charlsie Lowe, sister, Kathy (Paul) Schmidt, brother, John (Ray Myers) Lowe, nieces; Corinne Schmidt, Stephanie (Ryan) Adams, and Allician Amburgey; and nephews, Jonathan Schmidt, Troy (Rebecca) Amburgey, and Patrick (Kayla) Sturgill.
The family will receive friends on Saturday March 22, 2025, from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm at Morris-Baker Funeral Home. A Celebration of Cindy's life will be immediately following at 4:00 pm.
