Danford Grace Bowman

April 4, 1916 — March 19, 2008

Danford Grace Bowman, 91, died Wednesday March 19, 2008 in the Hillview Health Care Center, Elizabethton, Tennessee. Mrs. Bowman was a native of Cater County who had lived in Johnson City since 1942. She was the daughter of the late William M. and Pearl B. Potter. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, Dana Bowman in 1996; an infant son; one daughter, Helen Argenbright in 2007. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Bowman was a member of the Sinking Creek Baptist Church. Survivors include: two sons, David Ronnie Bowman and his wife JoAnn, of Jonesborough and Bill Bowman, of Johnson City; four daughters, Chris Lowe, of Johnson City, Cara Moss and her husband James, of Harriman, Tennessee, Sue Rowland and her husband David, of Jonesborough and Jayne Brogdon, of Elizabethton; one brother, Russell Potter, of Elizabethton; one sister, Donnis Hicks, of Johnson City; seventeen grandchildren; twenty six great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren. The funeral service for Danford Grace Bowman will be conducted at 2 PM Saturday March 22, 2008 in the Morris-Baker South Chapel. Rev. Reece Harris will officiate. The committal service will follow in the Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be grandsons. The family will receive friends in the funeral chapel from 1 to 2 PM Saturday prior to the service. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Sinking Creek Baptist Church Building Fund, 2313 Elizabethton Hwy, Johnson City, Tn. 37601.
