Daniel A.'?Danny'? Grindstaff, 49, of 730 Georgia Street, Johnson City went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 20, 2009 at his residence. Danny was a native of Washington County and a son of the late David Thomas Grindstaff, Sr. and Shirley Edmondson Grindstaff. He was an engine mechanic at East Tennessee State University. Danny was a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church and attended Grace Fellowship. He was a beloved Husband, Father, and Brother .He had many friends and was a loyal friend to them and was always there for his friends. Danny had a keen wit and a wonderful sense of humor. He enjoyed kayaking, fishing and making wine. He is preceded in death by: his parents; two brothers, David Thomas Grindstaff, Jr. and William Michael Grindstaff Survivors include: his loving wife, Susan Pate Grindstaff of the home; one daughter, Beth and her husband, Brian Helfrich of Johnson City; one brother, Arthur C. and his wife Cathy Grindstaff of Johnson City; two sisters, Evelyn Davis and Brenda and her husband Bill Hopson, all of Johnson City; several nieces and nephews also survive. A Memorial Service for Daniel A. 'Danny'? Grindstaff will be conducted at 8 PM Friday, January, 23, 2009 in the Morris-Baker South Chapel. Mr. Gene Deaton will officiate. Honorary Pallbearers will be Mike Marchioni, Joel Ryman, Mike Nichols, Mike Tolley, Jim Smith, Bob Strickland, and Tim Dills. In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to the Washington County-Johnson City Animal Shelter, 525 Sells Avenue, Johnson City, TN 37604 The family will receive friends at Morris-Baker from 6 to 8 PM Friday prior to the service.
