Mr. Daniel Len McCloud, 63, Johnson City, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 2, 2018. Dan was born in Denver, Colorado and moved to Kingsport after his father?s retirement from the Air Force. He attended Ross N. Robinson Middle School and later graduated from Dobyns Bennett High School in 1973. From 1974 until 1978, Dan attended ETSU, where he was a computer science major and participated in the Army ROTC program. On Dan?s 35th birthday, he was Diagnosed with Meniere?s Disease, earning him the nickname ?Dizzy Dan' from his friends and co-workers. He was the owner of Tri-Cities Battery and served the Johnson City and Kingsport communities until retiring in 2016. Dan enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, playing softball, waterskiing, watching NASCAR and driving his 1969 Ford Mustang. He was preceded in death by: his mother, Jeanette Lea Woods, of Longmont, CO; his aunts, Dolly McCloud Freeman, Bertha McCloud Messick, Ruby McCloud; and his uncles, Marvin and Bill McCloud. Survivors include: his father, Thomas McCloud and his wife Clara; his wife, Susan McCloud; two sons, Michael and Jon McCloud; daughters, Cara and Casey McCloud; two grandchildren, Hayden and Cielle Gibson; three sisters, Debbie Cox, Sherry Ballard and Diane Flanagan; two nieces, Whitney Flanagan and Rachel Searle; four nephews, Gabe Searle, Andrew Flanagan and Stephen and Christopher Ballard; and his ever- present companion, his dog, Josie. A memorial service will be held from 2 PM until 5 PM Sunday, September 30, 2018, at Watauga Point Recreational Area pavilion in Hampton.
