Darla Defoor Roy

Darla DeFoor Roy, 75, of Erwin, TN, passed away Tuesday, September 15, 2015 in Johnson City, TN, following an illness. Darla was born in Palestine, TX to Coy DeFoor and Noveline Turner DeFoor on May 3, 1940. She attended Tyler Junior College and Louisiana State University. In 1962 she married Samuel Roy of Natchitoches, LA. They lived in Baton Rouge, LA; Macomb, IL; Cape Girardeau, MO; and Moorhead, MN before moving to Erwin. Along the way, Darla was a dedicated educator, teaching kindergarten, first, and fifth grades, and later teaching adult education. Family and friends will remember her as a lively, loving person who shared laughter and her good cooking with a warm heart. Survivors include her loving husband, Samuel Roy; her son, Brandon (Tracy) Roy; her daughter, Leah (Bill Scheidt) Roy; and grandchildren, Parker Roy, Mason Roy, Cooper Roy, and Finley Scheidt. She is also survived by her sister, Cleta (James) Spivey, and niece and nephew, Debra and Tim Spivey. Per her request, there will be no services.
