Darrell ?Ollie' Oliver, 94, of Johnson City, passed away Wednesday, December 23, 2015 in the Mountain Home VA Medical Center. Mr. Oliver was a native of Elizabethton. He was a son of the late Morrell and Cora Brown Oliver. Mr. Oliver was a veteran of U.S. Marine Corps. He worked at North American Rayon Corporation prior to his retirement. Ollie loved baseball and coached Babe Ruth, Little, and Pony League in Johnson City for 30 years. He was a member of University Parkway Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ella Mae Daniels Oliver, and brother, Luther Oliver. Survivors include: two sons, David Oliver and Larry Oliver, and his wife Joan; two daughters, Janie Miller and Cherie Sneed; six grandchildren, Ethan Oakes, Ian Oakes, Shea Church, Scott Oliver, Todd Oliver, and Misty Oliver; and six great grandchildren. A graveside service is scheduled for 2:30 pm Monday, December 28, 2015 at Mountain Home National Cemetery. Dr. Phil Kidd will officiate. Pallbearers will be the grandsons. The Boone Dam VFW Post 4933 will accord military honors. Minister, family, and friends are requested to meet at Morris-Baker at 2:00 pm Monday to go in procession to the cemetery for those services. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the Mountain Home VA Community Living Center hospice staff, and a very special thank you to Kenneth and Jim for their loving care.
