Daryl Keith Elrod, 59, of Johnson City, passed away Friday, March 10, 2017 at the Johnson City Medical Center. Daryl was a native of Johnson City. He was a son of the late Carl Edmond and Florence Harrell Elrod. Daryl was of the Baptist faith. He had worked as a building inspector for the City of Johnson City for 18 years. He was certified in all building trades including plumbing, gas mechanical, electrical, and plans review of the above. He was also the past president of the Tennessee Builders Association. Daryl enjoyed cheering for the SEC teams and was an avid UT fan; he loved watching UT football. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Audrey Osborne Elrod; step son, Chris Clyne; grandson, Ryan Clyne; three brothers, Byron Elrod, Alvin Elrod and wife Sherri, and Todd Elrod and wife Theresa; nephews, Ben and Darius Elrod; niece, Michelle Davis; his ?special little girl', Samantha-cat; special friend and cousin, Sherry Whitson; and brother-in-law, David Osborne and wife Tammy. The family of Daryl Keith Elrod will receive friends from 5 pm to 7 pm Wednesday, March 15, 2017 in the Morris-Baker Dogwood Chapel. The funeral service will follow at 7 pm Wednesday under the direction of Mr. Larry Shropshire. A committal service is scheduled for 11 am Thursday, March 16, 2017 at Monte Vista Memorial Park. Minister, family, and friends are requested to meet at Morris-Baker by 10:30 am Thursday to go in procession to the cemetery. Active pallbearers will be: Wayne Lyons, David Jenny, Jerry Nave, Johnny Miller, Don Cox, Darius Elrod, and Ben Elrod. Honorary pallbearers are: James Adderhold, Joel Bailey, Bill Crumley, Dr. Stan Hodges, and Paul Renfro. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the 2500 Medical Center nurses, 2800 ICU staff and nurses Katheryn and Hailey, and critical care nurse Rachel for their compassion and care. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Washington County/Johnson City Animal Shelter, 3411 N. Roan St., Johnson City, TN 37601.
