David E. Jones

David E. Jones, 49, of Johnson City, passed away at home Friday, February 2, 2018 due to complications of cancer despite a clean lifestyle. He was a lifelong resident of Johnson City, the son of Dean and Mary Jones. David was an avid learner who valued knowledge and enjoyed every class he took at Northeastern State and East Tennessee State University. When he wasn?t learning about our world, David spent his time exploring the Final Frontier through his love of Star Trek and the people it brought into his life. Surviving David are his parents; one sister, Nancy Jones; three uncles; many friends, including: Dr. Ben Clark and his wife, Ruth Van Sickle, Charlie and Melissa Sheurer, Dr. Dorman Stout, Paul and Reba Peer, Harlis and Rosalie Cox, and Don Lockmiller. The family of David E. Jones will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Wednesday, February 7, 2018, at Morris-Baker Funeral Home. The Funeral service will follow 7:00 PM with Mr. Paul Peer officiating. A graveside committal will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, February 8, 2018, at Monte Vista Memorial Park. Friends and family are asked to gather at the cemetery by 12:45 PM. Active pallbearers will be selected from friends and family; honorary pallbearers will be the staff of McAlister?s Deli, where David spent a large amount of time and of whom he was exceedingly fond.
