David Lee Jones, age 84, of Fayetteville, Tennessee, and formerly Johnson City, Tennessee, died August 29, 2019.
David was responsible for the missile technology and the missile development on Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama. He worked directly with Werner Von Braun on the Apollo space missions. He was also the developer of the systems on the Blackbird surveillance system. David was the grandson of David Patrick who owned and operated the Johnson City Bus Transit Company during the 1920s and 1930s.
He is survived by his wife, Sue Isenberg Jones; four children; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
David was put to rest in Monte Vista Memorial Park in a private service.
