David Ray Oakes

Johnson City-David Ray Oakes, 62, died Monday, December 12, 2011. A native of Washington County, he was the son of the late Raymond and Ruth Burleson Oakes. David was a member of Keystone Freewill Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his grandparents Ed and Pearl Oakes and grandmother Lizzy Crow Burleson. He is survived by his loving wife Margaret Oakes of the home; two brothers Johnny Oakes and his wife Judith and Danny Oakes, all of Johnson City; and four nephews Timmy Odom of England, Billy Odom of Washington State; Ian Oakes of Virginia, and Ethan Oakes of Johnson City. Memorials may be made to The American MS Society, Washington D.C. 1100 New York Ave.,N.W.,Suite 660, Washington, DC 20005. The family will receive friends, Wednesday, from 6-7pm at Keystone Freewill Baptist Church. Services will immediately follow at 7pm with Pastors Terry Jones and Bill Greer officiating. A private family entombment will take place Thursday.
