David Richard Tierney

April 12, 1954 — May 24, 2020

David Richard Tierney, age 66, of Johnson City, Tennessee passed away peacefully in the arms of his family at home on Sunday, May 24, 2020.

David was born on April 12, 1954 in Providence, Rhode Island to Richard Joseph Tierney and Carmella “Connie” Pacifico Tierney.

David attended college at Slippery Rock University in Pennsylvania on a football scholarship where he was a team member when they took the PSAC Championship three years in a row: 1972, 1973, and 1974. He earned a master’s degree and held a career in environmental engineering where he worked for various companies until he started a private consulting business in environmental waste consulting.

David was an avid sports fan and exercise enthusiast. He was a big fan of the Patriots and the Red Sox. He greatly enjoyed skiing, scuba diving, boating, and most of all, bicycling.

Those left to cherish David’s memory include his wife of 39 years, Marilyn; sons, Darin and Eamon; brothers, Richard and Jeffrey; sisters, Heather, Jeanne, and Deborah; best friend in life, William Conn Jr; and his beloved dog of 17 years, Jersey. He was preceded in death by his parents.

David’s family will receive friends on Thursday, May 28, 2020 from 5:00-7:00 pm at Morris-Baker Funeral Home. Those attending are encouraged to wear face masks and practice social distancing. A memorial service and celebration of life will be planned for a future date.
