David Thomas Williams

David Thomas 'Tommy'? Williams, Jr., 40, of Knoxville, died Saturday, October 25, 2014 in the Vanderbilt University Medical Center, due to complications following surgery for a pituitary gland tumor. Tommy was a Johnson City native and the son of David Thomas 'Tom'? Williams, Sr. and Freddie Hyder Williams. He was a 1992 graduate of University High School, where he was a standout in baseball and basketball. He later graduated from ETSU. Tommy worked as an assistant manager at the Knoxville-Bearden Earth Fare store. He previously worked at Earth Fare in Chattanooga and Johnson City, and had been a manager at Gourmet and Company in Johnson City. He was 'Zeke'? to his sister, Wendy, who loved him with all her heart, and 'Uncle Zeke'? to his nieces, Alex and Riley. Tommy loved reading, music, and writing poetry. He took great joy in travel, both in the US and abroad, and enjoyed the company of friends and good conversation. In addition to his parents, he is survived by: his sister, Wendy Gowan and husband Joe Gowan of 2 Avondale Circle, Johnson City, TN; niece Alex Muraski and husband Jon Muraski and their 2 girls Madelyn and Natalie, and niece Riley Gowan; and many, many special friends. The family of Tommy Williams will receive friends from 12 pm until 2 pm Saturday, November 1, 2014 in the Morris-Baker South Chapel. A Celebration of Life service will begin at 2 pm Saturday in the South Chapel under the direction of Rev. Mike Richards. The committal service will follow at Roselawn Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.
