Dean R. Snyder, 72, 205 Meridale Drive, passed away Wednesday, December 3, 2008 at the Johnson City Medical Center. He was a loving husband, daddy and Papaw. A Celebration of Life Service for Mr. Snyder will be conducted at 7 pm Friday, December 5, 2008 from the Morris-Baker Funeral Home South Chapel. Pastor Charlie Delaney will officiate. Military graveside services will be held at 1 pm Sunday, December 7, 2008 at Monte Vista Memorial Park. Mr. Paul Helphinstine will officiate. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the funeral home at 12:30 pm and travel in procession to the cemetery. allbearers will be Steven Bennett, Joseph Snyder II, Mark Hodges, Rondy Hodges, Larry Smith, Tommy Mooney, Carl Henegar, Paul Buck and Jonathan Garst. The family will receive friends from 4 pm until 7 pm Friday at the funeral home. Mr. Snyder was a native of Butler, TN and had lived in Washington County since 1975. He was the son of the late Elbert H. and Alice Reece Snyder. Mr. Snyder was a retired US Air Force Sergeant having served in Vietnam and Thailand and had also retired from the U.S. Postal Service. He earned several medals and awards during his military service including the Distinguished Fly Cross Award. Mr. Snyder was a member of Harrison Christian Church, the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, US Air Force Sergeants Association, Loyal Order of the Moose, and the Disabled American Veterans. Survivors include his wife, Hannelore Snyder; three daughters, Linda Burchfield and her husband, Eric, Gray, Karen Laura Wilson and her husband, Brent, Kingsport and Sharon Lawson and her husband, Tim, Kingsport; one son, Michael Dean Snyder and his wife, Treca, Lone Jack, MO; two sisters, Peggy Hodges and her husband, Graham and Betty Bennett and her husband, Richard all of Johnson City; one brother, Joe Snyder and his wife, Judy, Gray; eight grandchildren, Sarah Catherine Wilson, Colt Burchfield, Ian Wilson, Aubrey Lawson, Ethan Lawson, Jenny Sherrick and her husband, David, Trisha Snyder and Payden Snyder; one great granddaughter, Lillian Sherrick; one aunt, Rose Mottern, Johnson City and several nieces and nephews. For those who wish, in lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Harrison Christian Church, 2517 Browns Mill Road, Johnson City, TN 37601.
