Denice R. Thornton

Denice R. Thornton, 53, 2 Earl Circle, Johnson City was called home to be with her Lord on Sunday, August 19, 2007. Mrs. Thornton was a native of El Paso, Texas and moved to Johnson City initially in 1973. From 1978 until her husbands retirement in 1991, she lived at various U.S. Army posts. She was a daughter of James David Lundy of Johnson City and the late Janet Hulbert Lundy. Mrs. Thornton was a homemaker and active in volunteer work with the Girl Scouts, JROTC and Cub Scouts. A real love of hers later in life was the raising, breeding and showing of Ragdoll Cats and she served as a clerk in the International Cat Association. Mrs. Thornton was a loving and devoted daughter, wife, mother and grandmother who will be deeply missed. She is preceded in death by: her mother; a sister, Sarah Love. Survivors include: her father; her husband, Skip Thornton of the home; one son, Kristopher Ross of Jonesborough; one daughter, Sarah Michelle Lane of Erwin; three granddaughters, Micayla Roweann Lane, Madalynn Coryn Lane and Alyson Faith Ross; one nephew, Steven Love of Johnson City. The funeral service for Denice R. Thornton will be conducted Wednesday, August 22, 2007 at 7:30 PM in the Morris-Baker North Chapel. Father Jerard Finucane will officiate. The committal service will be conducted at 10 AM Thursday in the Mountain Home National Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family before or after the service in the North Chapel.
