Dennis W. Ward, 63, of Johnson City, died Tuesday, April 2, 2012 at the Johnson City Medical Center. He was of the protestant faith and was an assembler for the Dawn of Hope. A native of Sullivan County, he was the son of the late Homer and Nona Lee McLaney Ward. Survivors include: three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Mary and Ted McKeehan of Johnson City, Linda and Galen Humphreys of Kernersville, NC and Donna Walsh of Cary, NC; five nieces and nephews, Lorri Carver of Piney Flats, Sherri Claes of Morrisville, NC, Ami Hendrix of Burlington, NC, Ryan Walsh of Franklinton, NC and Justin Walsh of Cary, NC; several great nieces and nephews. A funeral service is scheduled for Friday, April 6, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. in the South Chapel of the Morris '?Baker Funeral Home under the direction of Dr. Ron Murray. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until time of service at 3:00 p.m. A committal service will be conducted in the Shell Cemetery at Piney Flats following the funeral service. Active pallbearers will be: Austin Drake and Holden Drake, Matthew Carver and Ronnie Carver, Shannon Haney and Jimmy Shelton. A significant portion of Dennis life was spent with the Dawn of Hope, both as a day commuter and resident. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to all Dawn of Hope staff members, and especially to Dennis Direct Support Staff.
