Dessie Kelley Matthews

Mrs. Dessie Kelley Matthews, 95, of Johnson City, died on Monday, June 19, 2017 at the Cornerstone Village in Johnson City. She was a native of Horse Pasture, VA, daughter of the late James William and Carrie Stone Kelley. Dessie was a retired head quality control clerk for Burlington Industries. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Gulf Hills, MS. In addition to her parents, she was preceded by two husbands, Dixie E. Shelton married 56 years and later Ollie 'Matt' Matthews also a son Dixie Earl Shelton, Jr. She has two surviving children, Deborah Montanti and her husband Peter of Jonesborough and Dale Shelton and wife Linda, of Ocean Springs, MS; three grandchildren Shanna Shelton and Chad Shelton of Ocean Springs, MS and Justin Montanti and Sarah of Rochester, NY a sister, Evelyn Walker. A funeral service is scheduled for Monday, June 26, 2017 in the Bradford-OKeefe Funeral Home in Ocean Springs, MS at 3:00 pm. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to this service. Burial is private. A memorial and celebration service for Dessies local friends, is scheduled for Sunday, June 25, 2017 in the chapel of Cornerstone Village, located at 2012 Sherwood Drive in Johnson City. Chaplains,Jeff McNabb and Don Brandon will officiate.
