Dixie Lee Stanton

October 5, 1953 — January 30, 2022

Dixie Lee Stanton passed away on January 30, 2022, at Agape Medical Center at the age of 68. A Chicago native, she was born October 5, 1953, and lived much of her life in the Chicagoland area before moving to her beloved Johnson City, Tennessee in 2000. She worked administratively for academic institutions, including Midwestern University and ETSU.

Dixie was known for her humor and charm, always ready with a joke to keep her friends and colleagues smiling. Her love of singing carried her from high school well into adulthood, whether in a church choir or at Saturday night karaoke. She was fiercely concerned for homeless animals, rescuing three dogs of her own and donating to local shelters as well. Some of her favorite pastimes revolved around her lifelong support of her favorite sports teams - her old favorites from Chi-Town and her new ones from Tennessee.

Dixie is preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Jane Stanton; and her brother, Arthur Stanton.

She is survived by: her brother, Ron Stanton; and daughter, Rhonda Aburomi.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, February 19, 2022, at Morris-Baker Funeral Home.
