Dollie Etta Gilley

Dollie Etta Gilley, 97, of 2100 Sherwood Drive, Johnson City, died Wednesday, September 9, 2009. She was a native of Hampton but had lived most of her life in the Johnson City area. Dollie was an inspector for Johnson City Hosiery Mill and also had worked for the Hammond Organ Company. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Wesley and Venia Troutman Crowder; her husband, Frank Gilley in 1974; four siblings, Mildred Helton, Robert Crowder and an infant brother and sister. Dollie was a longtime member of the University Parkway Baptist Church and the Dorcas Sunday School Class. She also belonged to the Johnson City Senior Citizens. Survivors include: her sister, Barbara Brooks of Monroe, NC; a brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Nancy Crowder of Johnson City; several special nephews and nieces. A graveside service is scheduled for Saturday, September 12, 2009 at 11:00 a.m., under the direction of Dr. Michael Oaks. There is no public visitation. There will be a procession leaving the Morris '' Baker Funeral Home at 10:45 a.m.
