Donald Brian Mccarthy

Donald Brian McCarthy, age 83, of Greeneville, Tennessee, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Monday, September 4, 2023.


Donald was born in Manhattan, New York, on February 19, 1940, to the late Michael James McCarthy and Lorraine Dooley McCarthy. He graduated from Bryant High School in Queens, New York in 1957. Donald served in the Army, and after his honorable discharge, he served as a police officer for 13 years. Donald lived in Port St. Lucie, Florida and then Dothan, Alabama, until he settled in Greeneville.


Donald spoke German and he was very proud of his German heritage. He loved to help people, and he loved everyone. He was strong in his Christian faith, and he had read the entire bible 186 times.


In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, James McCarthy.


Those left to cherish his memory include his children, Donna Caterini, Donald McCarthy, and Lorraine McCarthy; grandson, Donald McCarthy, Jr.; and nephew, James (Yvonne) McCarthy.


A committal service will be held at 11:00 am, on Tuesday, September 19, 2023, at Mountain Home National Cemetery (Historic Section) in Johnson City, Tennessee. Those attending are asked to assemble behind the hearse within the cemetery gates by Veterans Way and Lamont St.
