Donald Carroll Tipton

Mr. Donald Carroll Tipton, 74, of Piney Flats, passed away Wednesday, December 20th, 2017, in Franklin Woods Community Hospital. Don spent his childhood and early years in Erwin with a brief time in Charlotte, NC. The majority of his life was in Johnson City, TN. He was the son of the late RC and Virgina Tipton. Don graduated from Unicoi County High School in 1962. Don learned what it meant to work hard at an early age. He started his business career owning a gas station in Erwin, TN, while also working for CoCa-Cola. He started his concrete career in Charlotte, NC and eventually came back to Johnson City to continue Tipton Concrete Service for a very successful 45 years. Dons leisure time included fast motorcycles, cars, boats, and a passion for larger boats. He spent many years on Boone Lake riding jet skis, slalom skiing, and really enjoyed any and all lake actives. Survivors included: his daughter, Traci Stone and her husband Tim Stone; two grandchildren, Kaleb and Kelsey Stone of Johnson City, TN; sisters, Shirley Sevila and husband Richard of White Stone, VA and Venda Harrell and husband Tony of Charlotte, NC; and several nieces and nephews. The family of Don Tipton had a graveside service on Saturday, December 23, 2017, at Monte Vista Memorial Park. Pastor Wayne Bledsoe officiated the service. Pallbearers were Kaleb Stone, Jeff Stone, Todd Stone, Todd Harrell, Thomas Elliott, Chad Brown.
