Mr. Donald Chase Hobson, 82, died Monday, January 09, 2012, at James H. Quillen VA Medical Center. A native of Carthage, NC he was the son of the late John T. and Myrtle Beard Hobson. Donald served in the US Army and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and watching NASCAR. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Allie Horne-Hobson; brother-in-law, Gerald Lindsay; children, Thomas Henry Maggart Jr. and Mark Anthony Maggart; stepchildren, Charles Carson Horne and Gladys June Maggart; and grandchild, Rose Marie Horne. He is survived by his brothers, Oscar Hobson and wife Faye of Ardmore, Alabama and Roger Hobson and wife Grace of Hopemills, NC; sisters Hazel Lindsay of Maitland, Florida and Patricia Baugher and husband Ralph of Jonesboro, Georgia; children, Michael Wayne Maggart and wife Pam of Unicoi, Cynthia DiAnn Chandler and husband Steve of Blountville, and Donald Keith Maggart of Jonesborough; stepchildren, Barbara Marie Maggart of Gray; grandchildren, Nettie Jo 'Jody'? Richardson and husband Bill of Gray, Karen Nell Maggart of Jonesborough, Donald Joe 'Jay'? Maggart Jr., of Johnson City, Curtis Lynn 'Tad'? Maggart of Jonesborough, and Stella and Lisa Horne; great grandchildren, Nikki Garber and husband Wade, of Gray, William Joseph Richardson and wife Heather of Gray, Jaime Lynn Fox of Johnson City, Brandon Wesley Fox of Johnson City, Adam Michael Maggart of Unicoi, Amber Nell Maggart of Unicoi, Melissa Ann Maggart of Racine, Wisconsin, Scott Anthony Maggart of Racine, Wisconsin, Kathleen Maggart and Lauren Maggart, both of Huntsville, Alabama; several great great grandchildren; and very precious friends, Archie Robinson, Burl Mast, JoAnn Worley, and all of his special friends at the Red Barn. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the loving and caring doctors and nurses at Lifecare Center of Gray as well as the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center. The family will receive friends Wednesday, January 12, 2012 at Morris Baker Funeral Home, from 5-7:00pm Services will be held at 7:00pm at Morris Baker Funeral Home.
