Donald J. Hafer went to be with our Lord and Savior on April 4, 2020. Born to Donald and Margaret “Betty” Hafer in Uniontown, Pennsylvania, on December 12, 1936.
Donald, often known as “Don” or “Donnie”, served 20 years in the United States Navy. Once retired from the Navy, Don attended East Tennessee State University and went on to travel the world, working for Texas Instruments and Siemens, respectively.
Don enjoyed NASCAR, attended ETSU basketball games, home and away, and traveling around the country, taking pictures of animals in zoos. His stories of the Navy, his worldly travels, and his animal stories kept friends and family joyfully engaged with meaningful conversation and laughter.
Don also loved to serve the Lord. Don was a beloved member of the Cokesbury Church in Johnson City, Tennessee. Don attended services as much as possible with his devoted friend, Bud Burridge.
Don is survived by his beloved daughter, Francisca Mishler; his grandchildren, Lucinda Stiles (husband Adam), Adriana Mishler, and John Mishler; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Doris and Robert Wunsch, Linda and Royal Kirkby; and his cherished nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and his six great-grandchildren.
Don is reunited in heaven with his beloved wife, Victoria Hafer; his revered parents, Donald and Margaret “Betty” Hafer; his treasured sister, Connie Carter; and his valued nephew Timothy Wunsch.
Private funeral services for Donald Hafer will be conducted at Morris-Baker Funeral Home with Pastor Kim Hingers officiating. Following the funeral service, Don will be laid to rest at Mountain Home National Cemetery.
