Dr. Donald Ray Wilkinson, 80, Johnson City, died Friday, November 24, 2017, at the Johnson City Medical Center. Dr. Wilkinson was a Willow Springs, Missouri native who lived in the Johnson City area for over forty years. He was a son of the late Lloyd and Thelma Oaks Wilkinson. Dr. Wilkinson started his teaching career at Rolla High School in Rolla, MO. He received his Ed.D from the University of Wyoming in 1974 while also serving as a college instructor at Indian Hills Community College in Centerville, Iowa. Dr. Wilkinson?s career at ETSU started in 1976. After teaching in the Office Management Program for several years, he held numerous administrative positions at the university and retired as Associate Dean of the ETSU College of Business. In addition to his parents, Dr. Wilkinson was preceded in death by two brothers, Ronald Roy and Royce Dale Wilkinson. Survivors include: his wife, Carol Sue Wilkinson of the home; son, Jeffrey Scott Wilkinson, and his wife Melinda, of Matthews, NC; two grandchildren, Thomas and Matthew Wilkinson, both of Mathews, NC; and two sisters, Evelyn Ruth Renner, and her husband Jim, of Lebanon, MO, and Edith Maye Buckley, and her husband Jim, of Wilmington, NC. The family of Dr. Donald Wilkinson will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at Morris-Baker Dogwood Chapel. The funeral service will follow at 7:00 PM with Michael Richards serving as celebrant. Graveside services for Dr. Wilkinson will be conducted 11:00 AM Thursday in Monte Vista Memorial Park. Family and friends are asked to gather at the cemetery by 10:50 AM for those services.
