Donald R. Pfaffe, 85, of Johnson City, was promoted to Heaven on Tuesday, February 6, 2018, joining his wife of 55 years, Beverly, for whom he cared in their home until her promotion in 2009. Don and Bev moved to Johnson City in 2002 from the Midwest where he had enjoyed many years of ministry as a pastor of Baptist churches in Minnesota and Wisconsin. In Johnson City, he particularly enjoyed the Christian ministries of Grace Fellowship Church, the Doe River Gorge Camp, and The WELL (a college ministry in Johnson City). Until the very end of his earthly life, he found great purpose in what he called his 'one-on-one ministry' of prayer and personal conversations. Many have expressed appreciation for the impact of those conversations. Don was a graduate of North High School of Minneapolis, Northwestern College of Roseville, Minnesota, and Central Seminary of Plymouth, Minnesota, earning a Master of Divinity degree there. In addition to his wife, Don was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Mae Pfaffe, and two brothers, Marvin and Bill. Survivors include his sister, Sandra, of Minnesota; children, Corey, Greg, Jeff and Cheryl of Wisconsin, Alaska, Minnesota, and Johnson City, respectively; 15 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren The family of Donald R. Pfaffe will receive friends from 11 AM to 1 PM Saturday, February 10, 2018, in the Morris-Baker Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 1 PM with Pastor Tom Oyler and James McNeil officiating. An Entombment service will follow in the Monte Vista Memorial Park.
