Doris Elaine Cooter

Doris Elaine Cooter, 96, passed away Wednesday, February 7th, 2018, at Johnson City Medical Center following a lengthy illness. Doris was born on December 27th, 1921 and was a resident of Johnson City, TN. She was the daughter of the late William Hubert Cooter and Clara Kate Miller. Doris devoted much of her time and energy as a caregiver to family members, including her mother until she passed away at age 97, and her brother Wayne. She will be remembered for her love of animals, enjoyment of gardening, and as the best neighbor and friend anyone could have, as her door was always open to anyone in need. Doris was loved by many and will be missed greatly. Doris is survived by: one brother, Wallace Lee Cooter of Johnson City, TN; niece, Jeri Shoun and Tommy Tester, of Johnson City, TN; nephews, Kevin Cooter, Phillip Cooter and Kenneth Cooter, all of Johnson City, TN; great niece, Alyssa Shoun, of Johnson City; great nephew, Brandon and his wife Ashley Shoun, of Knoxville, TN; and several other nieces and nephews. Doris loved Rachel, Margaret Ann and the rest of her Ritchies Furniture family and enjoyed sharing their stories through the years. Doris also leaves behind her beloved pet, Willie, and several neighborhood cats. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
