Doris Jean Lipps

Doris Jean Fleenor Lipps, 75, of Piney Flats, slipped into the arms of Jesus on Tuesday, June 13, 2023, surrounded by her loving family.

Doris Jean enjoyed square dancing, camping, and traveling with her late husband following her retirement from Sprint Telephone Company. She enjoyed crafts and making her home a showcase of family heirlooms.

She was a member of Edgefield Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the church at 745 N Pickens Bridge Road, Piney Flats, TN 37686.

Doris Jean is preceded in death by her husband, James Lipps; parents, Mr. & Mrs. Vernon Fleenor; brothers, Rev. Jerry Fleenor and Vernon Stewart “Sonny” Fleenor; son-in-law Randy Warren; and beloved pet, Oscar.

Survivors include her daughter, Shirley Warren; sisters, Mary Ann Santangelo and Ada Prue Oxendine; and several nieces and nephews.

The family offers special thanks to Doris Jean’s supportive neighbors, Ren and Bob Talbert as well as Anita and Charley Mick. They also graciously thank Dr. Brian Way and Blue Ridge Family Practice, the nurses and staff of Vivant Health Care of Bristol, and the amazing staff of Amedisys Hospice.

The family of Doris Jean Lipps will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM on Monday, June 19, 2023, at Morris-Baker Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 4:00 PM, officiated by Pastor Estel Williams, with cremation to follow. Honorary pallbearers are Justin Mullins, Travis Mullins, Larry Mullins, Mike Chapman, Scotty Harden, Michael Russell, David Smith, Steve Musick, and Chris Santangelo.
