Dorothy LaFollette Hensley, age 80, of Johnson City, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at the home of her niece, following a lengthy illness. She was a graduate of Boones Creek High School and a lifelong resident of Washington county. She was the daughter of the late Claude and Helen Little LaFollette. Dorothy was a homemaker and attended Tacoma Church of God. She loved needlepoint, cooking, and taking care of her flowers. In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Hardy Hensley, and one brother, Jack LaFollette. She is survived by one sister, Gail Ward, and her husband Edward, of Johnson City; brother-in-law, Ross Hensley, and his wife Viola, of Johnson City; ten nieces and nephews; special friends Eddie McCurry of Johnson City, Dwight Doty of Erwin, and Helen Hutsell of Johnson City Thank you to the special caregivers: niece Joy Bowman, and her husband, Jerry Bowman, and to hospice and the CNAs. The funeral service for Mrs. Dorothy Hensley will be conducted at 2 PM Friday, September 6, 2013, in the Morris-Baker North Chapel. Pastor Buddy Jones will officiate. The committal service will follow in the Monte Vista Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Sam Ward, Danny Ward, Perry Ward, Nicholas Ward, Nathan Ward, Hunter Ward, and Benjamin Bowman. Honorary pallbearer will be Terry Bowman. The family will receive friends from 12 to 2 PM Friday prior to the service.
