Mrs. Dorothy Beatrice Perry, age 96, of Johnson City, passed away, Tuesday May 1, 2012, at her residence. Mrs. Perry was a native of Carter County. She was the daughter of the late Russell and Grace Tucker Miller. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of forty-five years, David Muriel Perry; one son, James David Perry; one sister, Bernice Church, one brother, Halder Miller. Mrs. Perry was a homemaker and was a member of Kingsprings Baptist Church. Survivors include six daughters, Barbara Maupin and her husband Cecil of Johnson City, Nadine Miller of Hampton, Pat Church and her husband Bobby of Telford, Janet Ford of Mount Sterling, Kentucky, Donna Roberts and her husband David of Johnson City and Debbie Meade and her husband Vick of Johnson City; one son, Muriel Perry, Jr. and his wife Ruby of Johnson City; one sister, Willie Sweeney of Johnson City; twenty-two grandchildren; thirty-four great grandchildren; twenty great great grandchildren; four wonderful caregivers, Peggy Jones, Judy Hughes, Wilma Rush and Teresa Shell; four special granddaughters who helped with her care, Karen Williams, Letha Jones, Tina Evans and Robin Hall and two nieces, Wanda Bryant and Norma Cornett. The funeral service for Mrs. Dorothy Beatrice Perry will be conducted at 8 PM Thursday, May 3, 2012 in the Morris-Baker South Chapel. Rev. Jerry Cornett and Darrell Slagle will officiate. The graveside committal service will be conducted at 11 AM Friday in the Roselawn Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Minister, family and friends are requested to meet at the funeral home by 10:15 AM Friday to go in procession to the cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Thursday prior to the service.
