Dorothy Ellen Reynolds

Dorothy Ellen Reynolds, 91, passed away Thursday, September 1, 2011 at the Appalachian Christian Village in Johnson City. She was a member of Munsey Memorial United Methodist Church. A native of Watauga, where she was born on October 10, 1919, and lived most of her life, she later became a resident on North Hills in Johnson City for more than 30 years. She resided recently at Asbury Place until it closed after which she moved to Wellington Place. She is preceded in death by her parents, William B. Reynolds and Ethel Reese Reynolds of Watauga, where the family helped establish the Watauga Methodist Church and remained members until the church closed. Her father fought in the Spanish-American War and a maternal grandfather in the Civil War. She was also a descendent of original Tennessee settlers, among them Col. John Tipton, a member of the Constitutional Convention in 1776 who led a company in the American Revolution, and in 1784, built a home in Johnson City that became the state historic site, Tipton-Haynes Home. She is also preceded in death by her sisters, Rose E. Reynolds, Anna Belle Reynolds Hughes Watson, Marjorie Reynolds Syms and Ethlyne Reynolds Barlow Williams; and beloved nephew, William T. Hughes, Johnson City. Survivors include her niece and caregiver, Mrs. Eileen Hughes Klebenow, and great-niece Anne Klebenow, both of Knoxville; as wall as nieces, Mrs. Rose Barlow Holley, Orange Park, Florida, and Mrs. Gay Barlow Hooks, Slidell, Louisiana; and numerous other great-nieces and great'?nephews in Nashville, Louisiana and Texas. The family will receive friends at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 3, 2011 until time of Service at 2:00 p.m. in the Morris '? Baker South Chapel under the direction of Rev. Michael Lester. Interment will follow in the Highland Cemetery, Elizabethton. Active pallbearers will be: retired U. S. Navy Commander Ed Hooks, William E.
