Dorothy Stout

August 19, 1922 — July 6, 2008

Dorothy Tester Stout, 85, of 226 Springview Drive, Gray died Sunday, July 6, 2008 in the Johnson City Medical Center. Mrs. Stout was a native of Knob Creek in Johnson City and was a daughter of the late Norman Cicero and Iva Wilson Tester. She was a retired teachers assistant at the Kings Springs Elementary School working with deaf children. Mrs. Stout had been a member of the Johnson City Seventh Day Adventist Church for the past forty-three years. She is preceded in death by: her parents; her husband, Tol Stout in 1993; three brothers, Raymond, Howard and Earl Tester; four sisters, Mabel Tester, Clydia Tester, Rebecca Tester and Laura Tester Good. Survivors include, one daughter, Elizabeth and husband Don Lester of Gray; one granddaughter, Emily Clark of Gray; two grandsons, Damon Lester of Bristol, VA and John Lester of Elizabethton; one great grandson, Joseph Lester of Bristol, VA; one brother, Paul Tester of Noblesville, IN; three sisters, Lorene and husband Rex Sharp of West Alexandria, OH, Ruth Edwards Powers and husband Bob Powers of Jonesborough, and Mary Tester Winebarger and husband Charles Winebarger of Gray; several precious nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral service for Dorothy Tester Stout will be conducted at 8 PM Wednesday, July 9, 2008 in the Morris-Baker South Chapel. Dr. Paull Dixon will officiate. The graveside service will be conducted at 10 AM Thursday in the Duncan-Carathers Cemetery (near Ashley Furniture). Everyone will meet at Morris-Baker at 9:30 AM Thursday to go to the cemetery. Active pallbearers will be John Patton Lester, Paul Winebarger, Tommy Tester, Stephen Tester, Artie Edwards, and Tyler King. Honorary pallbearers will be Wanda Presley, Rachel Monderer MD, Carlos Floresguerra MD and Mary Hooks MD. The family will receive friends at Morris-Baker from 6 to 8 PM Wednesday prior to the service. The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the doctors, nurses, and staff of 2400,2800,2900 ,4200 and 4500 wings of Johnson City Medical Center and also the doctors and staff at Dr. Monderers Office for their loving care and concern for Mrs. Stout.
