Douglas Neal Allen

Douglas Neal Allen, 62, of Johnson City, TN passed away December 25, 2013 at Mission Memorial Hospital in Asheville, North Carolina. He was a native of Swannanoa, NC, son of James and Verlie Black Allen. Doug was a veteran of Vietnam having served in the U. S. Army. He was a retired medical photographer for the James H. Quillen Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Doug enjoyed caring for his horses and was an avid collector of firearms. He was of the Methodist faith. In addition to his parents, he is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Brad and Kristen Allen of Columbia, SC and a daughter and son-in-law, Leslie and Jordan Snapp of Johnson City, TN; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Linda and Joe Davis of Asheville, NC and Vickie and Gary Smith of Florence, KY; a granddaughter, Ella Allen of Columbia, SC and his former wife, Susan Allen of Johnson City. A funeral service is scheduled for Thursday, January 2, 2014 at 1:00 pm in the South Chapel of the Morris '? Baker Funeral Home under the direction of Minister, Jeff Price. A committal service will follow at Mountain Home National Cemetery at 2:30 pm. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 1, 2014 at the funeral home from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm.
