Douglas Ramsey Hungate, of Johnson City, died Friday, April 24, 2015. He was born in Epperly, West Virginia and was the son of Robert and Glida Hungate. Mr. Hungate served in the US Air Force and was a graduate of West Virginia Tech. After working as chief engineer for Powell Construction Company, Mr. Hungate founded and was President of Hungate Engineering, P.C. in 1986. The company continues in operation today. Mr. Hungate was a member of St. John?s Episcopal Church, a board member of Family Promise, and he was active in the Dawn of Hope. He loved playing racquetball at the Johnson City Racquetball club, which is usually where you could find him after a long day at work. He was preceded in death by Christa Hungate. He is survived by his daughter, Melanie Hungate, a son, Robert Hungate and wife Vickie, and two grandsons Robert and Skylar. A celebration of Doug Hungate?s life will be held at St. John?s Episcopal Church on Saturday, May 2, 2015 at 11am.
