Douglas Wade Verble. 50, of Knoxville, passed away Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at the Turkey Creek Medical Center in Knoxville. Doug was born in Sandusky, OH. He was the son of Joann Price Verble and the late James Lester Verble. He was a graduate of Happy Valley High School, where he was a 1982 All-State basketball player. Doug worked as a finance manager at A Auto Buyers in Alcoa. He was a devoted husband and father. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, C. H. and Aleene Price. Survivors include: his wife and companion for 24 years, Sheri Verble; three children, Stephen Houston, Nicholas Verble, and Cassidy Verble; one granddaughter, Layla; two brothers, Dennis Verble and his wife Diane, and Thomas Verble; one sister, Delores Walker and her husband Bob; mother, Joann Price Verble; several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Keith Burchfield. The family of Douglas Verble will receive friends from 6 pm until 8 pm Sunday, January 18, 2015 in the Morris-Baker Chapel. The funeral service will follow at 8 pm Sunday in the chapel. The graveside service is scheduled for 11:30 am Monday, January 19, 2015 in the Keplinger-Cherry Grove Cemetery in Jonesborough. Pallbearers will be: Keith Burchfield, Brandon Burchfield, John Verble, Paul Verble, Christopher Tanner, Brian Smith, Van Beasley, and Carl Archer. Minister, family, and friends are requested to assemble at Morris-Baker by 11 am Monday to go in procession to the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been created in Dougs memory.
