Duck Mottern

March 4, 1952 — April 14, 2016

Dorothy ?Duck' Mottern, 64, Johnson City, passed away Thursday, April 14, 2016 in Lexington at University of Kentucky Medical Center. Isaiah 40:31, But those who wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk and not faint. She loved Jesus with every fiber of her being. She loved His word and the songs that told of His promises. When she prayed, she prayed to someone she had a personal intimate relationship with. Her greatest desire was to see her brothers and others she loved know Jesus as their savior. She adored her husband and everyday they shared together. She loved her precious poodle Sierra like a child. Her presence on the tree streets, by all her neighbors and dogs, will be sorely missed. She had a passion for those rejected by others and felt called to minister to the needs of many. The lives she touched before and after accepting Christ are many. She was the most perfect wife, sister, cheerleader, counselor, confidant and companion anyone could ever hope for. She made others want to be better at loving their families and God. She often talked about her future with Jesus and her family already there. We can rejoice because her battle here is over, and know we, as God?s children, will walk the streets of gold with her one day. Until then, her strength will encourage us to press on toward the goal she so successfully accomplished. Her loving husband Billy, family and friends survive her. The Mottern family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at Grace Baptist Church from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: The Gideons International ? North Camp, P. O. Box 3695, Johnson City, TN 37602-3695 or St. Jude Children?s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
