Earl "The Pearl" Yates

Earl “The Pearl” completed his earthly life October 27, 2024, at the ripe age of 90. As he would say, he was a legend in his own mind. Earl loved sports, specifically UT sports. He loved to play a good game of basketball, putting in many hours at Kiwanis Park. He didn’t give it up until he was into his 70s. He was very competitive at ping pong as well, participating at the Johnson City Senior Center.

 In addition to his parents, Rosie and Clifton Yates, Earl was preceded in death by his 6 brothers and sisters, Clarence Yates, Hazel Landers, Robert Yates, Hubert Yates, Ruby O’Dell, and Elsie Riley. Earl is survived by several nieces and nephews.

 The family is in the process of planning a memorial service to be held at Kiwanis Park. Details are incomplete at this time.
